- The Jessica Kross Papers consist of notes and drafts documenting Ms. Kross’ research for and development of, her 1974 doctoral dissertation on the history of Newtown, Queens County, New York, “A Town Study in Colonial New York,” and her 1983 book The Evolution of An American Town: Newtown, New York, 1642-1775 (Temple University Press). Her notes contain extractions from all the pertinent surviving primary records related to the colonial history of Newtown and the people who inhabited the town, whether prominent or not.
