Men's Club at Point View Resort

Jacob F. Wieners, Jr.

ca. 1900

Members of an unidentified men's organization pose for a group portrait during an outing at Witzel's Point View Island, a resort and amusement park on what is now Tallman Island on Long Island Sound, just west of the present-day Whitestone Bridge. A number of men in front wear marching band uniforms; drums are seen at left and right, and a large American flag is behind the group. One man, seated just right of center in the third row from the front, is holding a baseball and baseball mitt. A nearly identical photograph of this same group is seen in record jfw-000192.
