Riesenburger's Hotel

Jacob F. Wieners, Jr.

ca. 1905

Eight men and women pose in front of Riesenburger's Hotel. Signs advertising George Ehret's Extra beer run along the edge of the porch roof. Above the sign reading "Riesenburgers Hotel" is a six-pointed star with the monogram "GE" in its center. This is known as the "brewer's star," and it was used in the logos of many 19th and early 20th century brewers. Attached to the lower edge of the porch roof, to either side of the hotel sign, can also be seen street signs with the original street names: "1st Ave." at left, and "1st St." at right. Note electric street light hanging over the intersection, upper right.
