Foresters of America

Jacob F. Wieners, Jr.

ca. 1910

Members of a fraternal organization, the Foresters of America, pose for a formal group portrait outdoors, on the grounds of the photographer's studio. This is a view looking west. The men all wear ribboned medals bearing an antlered elk or deer head. Below the antlered head, each medal has an additional symbol: the man seated in center wears a pair of crossed gavels, the man standing second from the right wears a pair of crossed keys, etc. The men who are seated in the front row, third from the right and third from the left, also wear velvet stoles embroidered with the letters "O.G.C.R."
