This sound produced when this ring was hit with a hammer summoned people to help at a fire. It hung on Frank Newton's property, opposite the post office. The land enclosed by the fence in this photo belonged to Hollis Newton. The image contains the words "The Fire Alarm, Lake Ronkonkoma, L.I." along the bottom, and the word "Feather" at bottom right.
