There are only 10 documents in this very small collection all but two of which deal in some way with the British occupation of the New York, Area, but more specifically, the area of Flatlands, that section of Kings County facing Jamaica Bay. The documents are all addressed to Captain Nicholas Schenck (In one or two documents, the term "Captain" is not used, perhaps indicating that the individual though bearing the same name was not the same person. There is no certainty of this however, and probably this likelihood is not too great.) the commander of a unit in the area, and are principally orders or communications from superior officers. These are all or virtually all from headquarters in Flat Bush (Flatbush). Most documents are in fragile condition.
