Burroughs Family of Newtown Miscellaneous Documents
This collection consists of about seventy documents. Virtually all of them are in extremely poor condition, and huge portions of most documents are unreadable. Many exist in fragments only. The Burroughs name most frequently found on the documents is Thomas Burroughs. Among the documents found in this miscellany are: a letter, dated Sept. 21, 1831 from F. DePeyster to Thomas Burroughs regarding the estate of Joseph Burroughs; a certificate of honorable testimony regarding the performance of duties by George W. Burroughs in the second regiment of Horse Artillery of New York State, dated 1837; and a real estate indenture, dated 1824 involving Thomas Burroughs and his wife Sarah with William Kouwenhoven, Charles Roach and Charles Jayne.
