The Jacob F. Wieners, Jr. Photographs contain pictures of businesses, residences, organizations and events in the Queens communities of College Point, Whitestone and Flushing around the turn of the twentieth century. Many of the businesses are hotels and resorts, as College Point was a popular vacation spot at the time. Among the organizations that Wieners photographed were sports teams, bands, choirs, fire companies, police forces and civic groups. Events include parades, picnics and other group outings. A large subgroup of photographs consists of studio portraits of individual members of fire companies, police and veterans organizations.
